Aqua Globes - Conclusion

It has been 6 days since I last watered my herbs and implemented two Aqua Globes into my herb box. Overall, it was a success! Usually after 4 or 5 days without watering, my basil would be wilted and hanging limply off the stems. Now they look just like I left them.

The blue globe on the right had no water left in it. Since I was away, I'm not sure how many days it took to deplete the water.

The surface of the soil at the base of the blue globe looked parched, but upon digging my finger in deeper into the soil, it was still slightly moist.

The green-ish colored globe on the left still had 50% of water left. My guess as to why this globe still had water remaining is because this globe was placed close to my chives, which generally doesn't require as much water. Further to the left is my cilantro, which sadly to say, hasn't been doing well for the past few weeks because they don't generally thrive in temperatures over 80 degrees. I'm going to re-pot the cilantro, fertilize with organic bone meal and bring it indoors.

The surface of the soil around the base of the green-ish globe was slightly moist and looked good.

The basil in my herb box was beginning to flower. When basil sprouts flowers, it also gives us seeds. But various sources online says that once the basil starts to flower, the basil looses much of its flavor. I personally have not noticed a difference and other online sources dispute this as well. I decided to cut them off anyway.

This is the purple basil (left) and lemon basil (right) I started from seeds about 2 months ago.

This is the first year I've tried gardening outdoors in my balcony. I have learned a lot about the diferent temperments and requirments of each plant and I feel like it brings me closer to life and nature.
